USPA NEWS - The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr Jean-Noël Barrot, met with his Spanish counterpart, Mr José Manuel Albares Bueno, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, during a working lunch in Paris on Friday 24 January.

As France and Spain celebrated the second anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Barcelona on 19 January, the two ministers discussed the exceptional depth of the bilateral relationship, particularly in economic, cultural and people-to-people exchanges. They also welcomed the convergence of their positions on the main European issues, whether defence, competitiveness or European digital sovereignty.

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr Jean-Noël Barrot, met with his Spanish counterpart, Mr José Manuel Albares Bueno, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, during a working lunch in Paris on Friday 24 January.

As France and Spain celebrated the second anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Barcelona on 19 January, the two ministers discussed the exceptional depth of the bilateral relationship, particularly in economic, cultural and people-to-people exchanges. The ministers discussed current international issues. They notably highlighted the importance of strengthening European and international support for Ukraine, which is defending its territorial integrity in the face of Russia's war of aggression.

They welcomed the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages in Gaza, which should constitute the first step towards a lasting settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in accordance with international law. They reviewed the political transition process in Syria. The two ministers stressed the important role of UNIFIL in contributing to the stability of Lebanon."
